Municipal government worries on increase of diarrhea cases

MASANTOL -  The municipal government here expressed concern about  the increasing number of diarrhea cases after the Philippine Medical Association confirmed water from deep wells was found to be positive with coliform bacteria and E. Coli.

Earlier,  Bernardo Yumang,  Nigui village chief, confirmed that twenty children were rushed to different hospitals in Pampanga and nearby province of Bulacan due to diarrhea.

Dr. Michael Aragon, chief of the PMA media affairs, said  drinking water in the locality is not safe for human consumption.

As this developed, Governor Lilia Pineda has immediately instructed the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) and Provincial Health Office to coordinate immediately with the municipal officials particularly the local health office to intensify the immediate information dissemination to all households in the said villages.

This aims  to prevent the spread of diarrhea and make the necessary medical measures and provision of water treatment solution powder to contain the bacteria.

In a related story, several residents in the coastal villages here  sought the assistance of Pampanga Electric Cooperative Inc. III (Pelco III)  as power connection has been interrupted since the province was bombarded by recent typhoons.

Angelito Guinto, a resident here,  stated that Typhoon Pedring collapses a number of electrical posts in the localities.

Among the affected villages are; Bagang, Sagrada Familia, Nigui, Sapang Kawayan and Balibago.
