Electric consumers hit PELCO 1 on estimated billings



CITY OF SAN FERNANDO --  Several electric consumers in barangay San Agustin in Candaba town, the other day,  hit  Pampanga 1 Electric Cooperative (Pelco 1) for unbearable increase of electric bills due to allege estimated readings.

The consumers who are also members of Pelco 1 stressed that sudden increase of their electric bills should be properly explained to the people.

Pangilinan disclosed that during flooding season Pelco 1 meter readers do not usually go in their place to monitor the actual kilowatt used by each household. Instead, she claimed  meter readers do estimates on this matter.

This fact was affirmed by an employee of the said  electric cooperative when Sun Star Pampanga visited Pelco 1's main office in Mexico town the other day for comment.

Aling Violeta lamented that they have nothing against  estimated reading particularly when the community is flooded. However, she said, Pelco 1 should not take advantage on this situation to increase the electric bill.

Herman Manalastas and Larry Santiago, both residents here, shared the same sentiments involving their billing statements.

Issue on estimated readings Meanwhile, Pelco 1 Director Medic Pelayo promised to  address the issue immediately. He said, he will ask meter readers and other concerned employees to look into this problem seriously.

Ask about Pelco 1 policy on estimated readings, he said this is tolerated in some strange situation. However, he clarified that it should not  be done at the expense of the electric consumers.

As this developed, the electric comsumers along the street of Tierra Village in barangay San Agustin disclosed that they are  planning to organize a consumers group to protect the interest of all electric consumers against abuse ang negligence of Pelco 1.
