CANDABA – Members of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) here yesterday spearheaded a simultaneous clean up drive in the respective backyards in support on the call of the local officials to clean and destroy all possible breeding sites of mosquito dengue carrier.
Bother Ariel Villanueva has led the brethrens in the Locale of Candaba in the said clean up activity to protect the interest of the local folks against dengue virus.
“Mahalaga po na malinis at mapuksa natin ang lahat ng pweding pamahayan ng lamok sa ating paligid para hindi na sila dumami pa. Alam naman natin na may dalang panganib sa ating buhay kapag nakagat tayo ng lamok na may dalang dengue.” Villanueva said.
Earlier, officials of the INC’s Children's Worship Service (CWS) has re-launched a province-wide campaign against dengue dubbed "OK Kid" or "Oplan Kalinisan, Kabataan Iwas Dengue."
Rogelio Masiclat, CWS-Sunday School Teacher Head, earlier stated that “Ok Kid” is intended to create awareness among people on the precautionary measures needed to be undertaken - the nature and origin of the dreaded disease.
It can be noted that reports have it that the municipal government through Mayor Jerry Pelayo admitted that there is dengue in Candaba. In fact, dengue virus has claimed the life of a 13-year-old girl from Barangay Bahay Pare here.
This has led to the creation of Task Force "Tepok Lamok", which is composed of various sectors in the community.
Also, recently, the Municipal Health Office (MHO) has recorded 435 fever cases following the conduct of 24-hour monitoring in all 33 barangays of this town. (Written by Bro. Herbert Mapiles)
