CITY OF SAN FERNANDO
--- Governor Lilia G. Pineda is eyeing the construction of cultural village, zip
lines, hanging bridge, native restaurants and other tourism facilities in the
mountainous village
of Nabuclod in
Floridablanca.
This developed as Pineda inspected another
newly constructed view deck facing the province of Bataan
and the Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX).
Pineda said cultural village zip lines and
other tourism facilities in Nabuclod may boost eco-tourism industry here as these
may also attract local and foreign tourists if constructed.
Floridablaca Mayor Eddie Guerrero said the
municipal government of Floridablanca is in full support to the eco-tourism plans
of the provincial government in the upland villages in their town.
“It will not only promote the town as tourist
destination, it will also generate income among the indigenous people or aeta
living in the uplands,” Guerrero said.
With these plans if realized, the living
condition of the aetas who are said to be the most marginalized sector in the
province will be alleviated and will give their families and children a better
future.
“ As of now, the aetas have thousands of
hectares of ancestral domain, but still they live poor and helpless, hence,
they are in dire need of government assistance to maximize the use of their
upland properties and make the most out of it, Pineda said.
Pineda said she is now coordinating with a
local investor who has the vast experience in the construction of zip lines and
tram lines in other provinces in the country.
It could be recalled that the provincial
government has forged a memorandum of agreement with project management team
composed of aeta leaders and some officials of the local government in
coordination with the officials of National Commission on Indigenous People
(NCIP) for the development of an initial 1,000 hectares of ancestral domain
owned by the natives.
