CANDABA – An official from the municipal government cited the inefficiency of the postal office in this town as several delinquent tax payers failed to receive notices involving delay and nonpayment of Real Property Tax (RPT) since last year.
According to Leny Manalo, chief of staff of Mayor Jerry Pelayo, they have been sending notices to delinquent tax payers reminding them of their standing obligations to the municipal government.
He claimed, the post office failed to deliver the same on time which led to nonpayment of RPT of greater number property owners in town.
In a relevant development, Manalo stated that the municipal government implemented an intensified system of tax tapping. This according to him contributed on the subsequent improvement on RPT collection despite the problem with the services of post office.
Meanwhile, a “cartero” or post man here, who requested not to be identified, disclosed that they really don’t know what happen with the notices sent by the municipal government.
He also disclosed that their chief in the post office has been recently replaced.
