CANDABA –   As signal number 2 Typhoon "Pedring" struck this province yesterday, several stilt houses in "Dayatan" area in Barangay San Agustin here have sustained  strong winds as the residents practice the attitude of being extra prepared in times of calamity and uncertainty.

"Narinig pa lang namin sa radyo ang tungkol sa bagyong Pedring at tinalian na namin agad ang bubong ng aming sa bahay para hindi liparin ng malakas na hangin," Marites Meneses, a resident here stated.

Candabenos consider every typhoon as a source of life. In this way and belief, Candabeños have learned to adapt and live with the situation.

With this, the residents react positively for this kind of situation. In fact, they see oppurtunity every time a typhoon visit the province to the extent of having their communities submerged to floodwater.

They start preparing their fishing gears, boats, flashlights, and foods for fishing expedition, as it is expected that they would get more fish catch.

Thousands of residents in this barangay were not alarmed by the heavy downpour brought by the typhoon as they consider this season an ordinary situation.

Meneses added they are always ready as their houses are stilt or made up of light materials.

"Ang pagiging handa sa kalamidad ang isang katangian ng mga taga rito. Kaya nananatili matatag bayuhin man ng malakas na bagyo," another resident here lamented.
