STO. TOMAS – Officials of this municipal government disclosed that a total of 1,725 students have been recipients of Mayor Lito Naguit’s scholarship program since it started three years ago.
According to Mia Marquez, PESO coordinator also in-charged in the scholarship program, at least 775 students from San Matias and Sto. Tomas high schools received scholarship grants from the municipality.
Aside from this, Marquez added that there were about 10 college students who are also receiving financial assistance from them. Each of them she said were given P3,000.
Rodelio Garcia, municipal administrator, meanwhile, declared that scholarship grant is part of Mayor Naguit’s ongoing educational assistance program.
The program aims to provide significant financial aid to poor but deserving students so that they could continue their schooling.
Garcia said that the municipal government will continuously provide educational assistance to other beneficiaries to be indentified soon based on academic performance.
