CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - The United Nation Children’s Fund (Unicef) has provided assistance to the children in the flood-affected communities along Pampanga River who were displaced by recent calamity.
Leon Dominador Fajardo, Unicef child protection specialist, disclosed ealier during a short meeting with Governor Lilia Pineda held in the provincial government, they are here to ensure that children’s needs are met.
Unicef initially provided more than 1,000 packs of relief goods coupled with the basic needs of the children.
This also aims to provide immediate assistance with clean water, vaccinations, and basic sanitation to worst affected villages.
Unicef ha partnered with the government and other UN agencies to meet the hygiene, nutrition and primary health needs of children particularly when their parents are prevented from working by natural calamity.
In the 4th district of Pampanga, typhoons Pedring and Queil have left several thousand individuals temporarily homeless which also led to the destruction of properties and crops on which the community folk relies.
Pineda, meanwhile, lauded officials of Unicef for helping out the children in Pampanga.
