Folks claim imminent danger compared to Cupang residents; houses stand at the edge of Pampanga River

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO  – At least 100 houses in the villages of Buas, Bambang, Gulap and Sto. Rosario villages in Candaba town including a barangay hall in Buas were currently standing at the edge of Pampanga River.

Local residents in several villages here claimed danger of losing houses and properties is more imminent to them as compared to some residents in Cupang village in Arayat town.

They said, as per report, the houses of the affected residents in Cupang were standing at least one meter away from Pampanga River, however, their they added that some parts of their houses were already swallowed by river’s strong current of water brought about by recent typhoon.

The residents maintained that there is nothing wrong if the provincial government is spending resources to rehabilitate the damaged portion of Arnedo Dike and Arayat-Apalit Setback Levee. “Sana tignan din nila ang mga residente sa kabilang bahagi ng ilog, gumuguho din po ang lupa, daang daang bahay din ang mga apektado,” Eneria said.

Another resident here lamented that other side of Pampanga River adjacent to Arnedo Dike is also continuously deteriorating due to soil erosion.

As this developed, the residents asked assistance from the provincial government in the form of proper engineering intervention to prevent further soil erosion that endangers their lives
