CIY OF SAN FERNANDO -- This town Mayor Jerry Pelayo has encouraged Congresswoman Anna York Bondoc-Sagum to closely monitor the asphalting of Arayat-Apalit setback levee to ensure that contractor will implement the project based on the approved specifications.
This was the reaction of Pelayo with the recent announcement of Bondoc-Sagum that the 26 kilometer stretch of Arayat-Apalit setback levee, considered one of the biggest road improvement projects not only in Pampanga but in Central Luzon.
The mayor pointed out that previous asphalting project in San Luis and San Simon towns has been poorly done by the contractor which led to waste of funds as it did not serve its purpose.
Milyong milyong piso ang ginastos dito mula sa kaban ng bayan pero nasira agad pagkaraan lamang ng dalawang buwan,” he said.
As this developed, Pelayo declared that he is planning to run after contractors who were responsible in the substandard project along Arayat-Apalit setback levee.
It can be noted that
Bondoc-Sagum claimed that she has worked for the release of subsidy from the National Government’s general appropriations funds involving the said project.
She said portions of the setback levee will also be repaired, while concrete barriers will be put up to assure the safety of motorists using the said road in going to and from the towns of Apalit, San Simon, San Luis, Candaba and even Arayat.
